WOW, the highlight of the auction! A true museum quality piece; pistols are identical; Crafted percussion half stock duelers, with deeply carved fore ends, and channeled fluted grips, very typical of the period. One pistol has a crack behind the lockplate and shows an old repair w/an inserted piece of wood. Pistols are iron mounted and cary scoll engraving along w/traces of case hardening colors and bluing on the tangs. Spurred trigger guards. Hooked patent breeches. Single triggers; lockplates w/makers name "Laroche FIls, Alaval"; Barrels are .50cal w/French rounded poly groove rifling; Barrels 9-7/8" long. Each barrel is sighted, and constructed from Octagonal, heavy walled, pattern forged damascus wrought iron. Each barrel have SN#762 and are marked by a small 1 & 2 adjacent to the famous oval ELG Belgian black powder proof marks. Case is hardwood w/brass corners. Interior is tightly fitted to the pistols & accessories in the French Style w/green baise lining. Oval brass plaque inlaid into the lid has owners name of "Frederick Abbo." Accessories include Hardwood mallet, round ball bullet mold w/sprue trimmer, copper powder flask w/adjustable measuring tip & signed BAP, two brass tipped ram rods that are not original, steel bladed wood handled screwdriver which is also a replacement. No FFL transfer needed.
